Welcome To Yorktown Manor
It's Always Residents First!
We are a skilled nursing facility offering quality rehabilitative care as well as excellent long-term care and memory care. We recognize how important it is to select the right health care option to meet your individual needs. Here are programs and support services to assist you and your loved as their care needs increase or decrease.
If your loved one is residing on a Special Care Unit designed for those individuals living with Dementia or a related memory disorder. The staff on this unit have received additional training on caring for those with Dementia. Our staff are compassionate, patient and understanding and will work with you and your loved one to provide the best quality of care. Dementia changes everything over time. It is not something that your loved one can control, and it is not always the same for every person. On our unit, we want every resident to feel comfortable and to be able to freely express themselves while maintaining as much independence as possible. Our unit has some very special “quirks” – we call it freedom of expression and being oneself! Here are some of the “quirks” you might observe when you visit:
Your loved one might be wearing someone else’s sweater or vice versa. Most individuals with Dementia are very giving and like to share. Items are returned to the proper owner.
Your loved one might enjoy holding hands with another resident. Several studies have shown touch to help lower blood pressure, decrease pain, improve mood and calm agitation.
Your loved one might take a nap on another resident’s bed. Individuals with Dementia can tire easily. Some - times a quick nap is just the answer; a comfy spot is a comfy spot!
Your loved one might try to eat mashed potatoes with their hands. Individuals with Dementia experience changes in tactile stimulation and vision; so instead of mashed potatoes, we’ll serve potato wedges
Your loved one’s outfit might be a little unconventional. Individuals with Dementia tend to layer clothing or might put their shirt on backwards. We encourage independence and will ensure that your loved one is comfortable at all times.

In addition to our short term and long-term care services, Yorktown Manor offers specialized services. At our facility we believe in a holistic approach to care by meeting the needs of our residents medically, socially and mentally. We understand there may be needs beyond short term or long-term care services and offer specialized services to meet the individual needs. Our specialized services include hospice and respite services.
Knowing that a loved one is suffering from a debilitating illness or possibly even nearing the end of their life, it is often very difficult to deal with mentally, physically and spiritually. The staff at Yorktown Manor combines knowledge and empathy to help manage a patient’s symptoms and make the patient as comfortable as possible. Outside hospice providers may be able to offer further support if the Resident meets hospice criteria. Educating and comforting the family is also part of end of life care services provided by our staff.
Respite care is designed to relieve individuals or families involved in caring for a loved one who is no longer physically or mentally capable of taking care of themselves on a daily basis. Yorktown Manor offers a respite care stay program that allows for caregivers to take a break and take care of themselves. Whether a caregiver must travel for business or recuperate from an illness or injury, we can relieve the burden of daily caregiving through our respite care program. Yorktown Manor offers its full continuum of services including 24-hour nursing care, medication administration, daily meals and snacks, laundry services, planned activities and social services, during respite stays.
The care is unbelievable and the compassion. I can sleep at night knowing Mom is in the best hands. My Mom calls the staff “Earth’s Angels” People will say to me, ”She’s at Yorktown didn’t they have the Covid?” I just say +”They did but I wouldn’t have her anywhere else.” Protecting our parents dignity is what most people worry about, at Yorktown Manor honoring my mother’s dignity is important to all the staff,- Debbie Patterson- daughter of Long term Care resident.
